Normally my rants are full of foul language and are about something or someone that pisses me off.
Ok, so this one isn’t any different. But it might have you thinking……
Know what I’m sick of? People who don’t appreciate life. Life is a gift. Life is something you have ONE fucking shot at. You don’t get a do-over, you don’t get a re-try, you don’t get to take stuff back and do it over again. So why are so many of us so unappreciative? I mean seriously, fuck! Take five goddamn minutes out of your ‘busy’ day and think about it. You have seen the St. Jude commercials, you most likely know someone who has/had some sort of terminal illness and we still, STILL don’t appreciate life. We’re still bitching about I’m just as guilty as the next person, which is why I’ve done a complete overhaul on who I am/attitude as of late.
In a society where our kids are being snatched out of bedrooms and illness’s are striking any gender or age category and we’re bitching about our ‘regular’ shows being postponed by the Olympics. It’s the FUCKING Olympics people! Remember when they stood for something? Remember when you were so excited to keep up on how many medals USA won? Now I’m fucking reading it on yahoo and that’s somehow satisfying enough. I’ve lost many people in my life to Cancer. This is another fucking thing I’m sick of. Since 1985 respectively, The American Cancer Society has raised 1.5 billion dollars. BILLION. No fucking cure? Are you serious? – a whole other HIH entirely. Anyway, I was disgusted when doing some research to find out that 70% of that goes to administrative costs. Notice I said disgusted, not shocked. I have a friend who is 27 years old, has two children ages 2 and 6 months and was just diagnosed with Stage 3 Thyroid Cancer. The big C word, stage 3. Her determination, positive attitude and zest for life continue to amaze me. She is truly an inspiration. My point to this being, none of us have any clue if we are even going to wake up tomorrow. It isn’t guaranteed. We aren’t promised that, yet on most days we take that for granted. Or complain that we have to go to our job that we hate. You HAVE a fucking job!
I’m sick if people bitching about the stupidest things. Long fucking lines in the supermarket, TiVo not working right, car broke down, not enough money, some bitch at the post office… I get it. I really do. I’m just as guilty. But think about it for a second. If you have kids, and their healthy what else matters? If you get to wake up and actually breathe the fresh air not confined by a hospital bed… I’d say you’re doing alright. If you’re the one bitching about the wrinkle in your clothes, or the dressing being too heavy on your salad or complaining about what the other person does wrong, or even how fucked up California is… Enough. Stop and think for a second. Think about all the things you DO have. Think about all the people who are so much worse off than you are. Think about parents having to quit their jobs to visit their dying children at a cancer center, or any disease for that matter. Think about the parents who have lost a child in the military ……. And shut the fuck up. Appreciate what you have, even if it isn’t much.
If you’re one of those people who are going to tell me “I live life to the fullest and appreciate everyday”, I’m going to tell you to fuck off too. Most likely you’re just telling yourself that to make yourself feel better. And you know what? Good for you. If that’s what gets you through the day, then rock on. All of us are guilty of it at some point, but even if this makes you think for 10 seconds it was worth it. And let’s face it; there is plenty of room for change in today’s society.
Time doesn’t stand still…….and it never will.
